Summer is almost here! That means children get to spend more time at home while school is out. This could mean different things for different parents. Some parents may find themselves working full time and in need to find something for their kids to do; while other parents will have some free time which they would like to enjoy. Whatever the case is, what is true for all is that Summer Camp proves to be beneficial to children no matter what.
One of the greatest benefits of summer camp for children is that they get to socialize and meet new people. During summer break, kids often find it difficult to form or maintain friendships with kids their own age. Besides their siblings or cousins, most kids would say that they mainly interact with adults when they are not in school. Not only do kids develop important life skills through socializing – such as sharing, setting boundaries, and problem-solving – they also are learning how to develop strong, healthy relationships through interacting with their peers.
Another benefit of summer camp is that while they are having fun and exploring their own interests, they are also increasing their own capacities for learning, teamwork, problem solving, knowledge, and self-awareness.
During summer camp, children participate in a variety of group activities. No matter what your child's interests are, whether it be sports or arts and crafts, a camp program will engage them in activities that require teamwork. Knowing how to work in a team is a useful skill for life.
Teamwork matters because it helps develop communication skills, emotional intelligence and leadership skills.
An understanding of teamwork helps a child realize working with others is sometimes the most efficient way to get things done. They will value teamwork as a solution, rather than think they need to handle tasks on their own. As a result, children will grow up with an eagerness to be active members of their community.
These are just some of the benefits that camps offer to children, there are so many more like: the way it promotes independence, how it provides fun screen-free activities, how it builds self-esteem and the opportunity to achieve, how it unearths new hobbies, and especially here at EFF one of the greatest benefits is it's a place for FUN!
